Art in Canary Wharf

  • Wednesday 27 March 2019
(11am-1pm. Meet at 10.50am at West India Quay DLR Station. )
  • Leader: Elizabeth Singleton

The moment Canary Wharf was conceived, architects and planners envisaged a prominent role for art and culture within the estate and continue to do so. Discover some of the pieces which make up over seventy works by artists and designers in the estate’s permanent collection on this tour.

The tour will resemble a journey whereby different environments are incorporated. There is one section of the tour which looks at the design of the Cross Rail gardens, for instance. The social history of the area will be mentioned and how the estate was developed and designed, including how the art was incorporated.
