Bermondsey Bonanza

  • Tuesday 11 September 2018
    (11am-c.1pm)
  • Leader: Andrew Davies

We start with the creation of a garden city pioneered by the wonderful Dr Alfred Salter and then stand on the spot where Turner painted ‘The Fighting Temeraire’. Next, arguably the finest riverside views on London, followed by converted flour mills, where Dickens set the climax of ‘Oliver Twist’, the River Neckinger, old warehouses in Shad Thames, the former Courage brewery plus Jacob the dray horse.

And the first railway line in London…..

No wonder Bermondsey is ‘on the Up’!
