study walks

Brixton Barnstormer

  • Tuesday 29 May 2018
    (11am-1pm)
  • Guide: Andrew Davies

What a transformation!

We will explore this most fascinating part of London: from Edwardian and Art Deco cinemas to bustling markets and Electric Avenue; from sumptuous department stores (including Britain”s first, dating from 1877) to an impressive town hall, the West Indian connection and the clock with six faces to help railway passengers. And not forgetting the mural tribute to David Bowie and a Georgian windmill – yes, a windmill in Brixton – this walk is full of surprises!
