Islington Amble

  • Monday 12 February 2018
    (11am-1pm)
  • Guide: Andrew Davies

We will explore Walter Sickert’s Hanging Gardens of Islington and the Regent’s Canal plus the picturesque remains of the seventeenth-century New River whose instigator, Sir Hugh Myddelton, stands proudly on Islington Green.

Featured too is the old “Aggie” (now a smart business centre), the old Collins music hall (now a bookshop) and the flat where playwright Joe Orton was murdered.

Plus the Angel itself, several old cinemas and theatres and finally a square containing a most delightful folly. No wonder Islington is so sought after…..
