Contrasts of Little Venice and the Paddington Basin

  • Tue 7 April 2020
    11am-c.1pm
  • Warwick Avenue Underground Station
  • Guide: Andrew Davies

Discover the delights of peaceful Little Venice with its canal, gin palace and Rembrandt Gardens around the junction of the Paddington Arm of the Grand Union Canal and the Regent’s Canal. Many of its buildings are Regency which contrast with the thrusting corporate architecture of glass and steel. Then we will look at Brunel’s Paddington station which reflects its story of the railway throughout the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries and is the grand terminus for the Great Western Railway that Brunel always intended.
