Members’ letter October 2023
Dear Member
We have added two new events to our spring term 2024 programme which we hope you will enjoy:
- The Medici: Bankers, Popes and Princes, a study day led by Dr Paula Nuttall on 26 February 2024
- A visit to Rochester Cathedral, led by John McNeill on 17 April 2024
We also still have some places available for the rest of the autumn term:
- A two-part online study event: The Normans in Southern Italy, led by John McNeill on Wednesday/Thursday 22/23 November 2023
- An online lecture: Art, Style and Design in the Service of King and Church: the Bologna Cope led by Dr Michael A. Michael on Monday 11 December 2023
You can find details of all the above and our spring events in 2024, all of which are open for booking, on our website. All events can be booked online via our secure booking system, WebCollect. We would prefer you to use WebCollect if possible to book events, even if you prefer to send a cheque by post; it does make life easier and more cost-effective for the Society. You are encouraged to book events as soon as possible so that we can confirm that we have sufficient participants to make the event financially viable to run.
The Society’s Annual General Meeting this year will be held on Monday 20 November at The Art Workers’ Guild at 5pm, and you will find all the relevant papers, including nomination forms, here. The meeting will be followed at 6pm by a lecture. It will be given by Revd Dr Ayla Lepine entitled Sacred Art and Women’s Visions: Julia Margaret Cameron and Paula Rego as Modern Interpreters of Renaissance Art. The lecture will be followed by a glass of wine. Booking is required – a joint ticket will be issued for the AGM and lecture.
I hope that you are enjoying our current programme of events. We are always interested to hear any comments or suggestions about the Society and its work, so please email the Secretary, secretary@londonarthistorysociety.org.uk, or write to us via our correspondence address: c/o Tudor Cottage, Stoke Prior, Leominster, Herefordshire HR6 0LG.
Best wishes.
