E-News Bulletin October 2024

SOCIETY EVENTS

Our first lecture of the 2024-25 programme, The Value of Drawing in Renaissance Italy given by Grant Lewis, will take place online at 6pm on 8 October.

We have a variety of interesting events starting this autumn many of which have places available. Do also have a look at events taking place in the spring term – booking is open. Please remember that in order to go ahead all our events need to at least break even and therefore we do need members to book as early as possible to ensure that events do not need to be transferred online or at worst cancelled.

Places are still available  for the following events:
Old Flo and Her Friends: the public art of Canary Wharf, a walk on 5 October led by Bridget Daly. This will be the first walk organised on a Saturday for at least 15 years!
Between Nationalism and Modernity: Artists of Eastern Europe, a five-week online course led by Kathy McLauchlan, starting on 16 October.
Caspar David Friedrich: intense visionary painter of landscape, a study day at Lettsom House on 18 October led by Clare Ford-Wille.
Four English Medieval Churches in Context, a two-afternoon study day led by John McNeill.
Drawing the Italian Renaissance, a visit to The King’s Gallery on 29 November.

Our 2024 AGM will take place on 26 November at 5pm at The Art Workers’ Guild, followed by a lecture on Alphonse Mucha: the Man, the Artist, the Legacy at 6pm. A joint ticket will be issued when you book for the lecture. Papers relating to the meeting will be distributed to all members at the end of October.
