Tintoretto was born in Venice in 1518 and we are taking the opportunity to visit the city when they are celebrating this moment with special exhibitions. Our guide is Dr Carlo Corsato, a native Venetian and a specialist in Renaissance art and architecture in Venice and the Veneto. The tour includes a 4* hotel on the Grand Canal in a former Venetian palazzo on a bed and breakfast basis with dinner at selected restaurants on two evenings and lunch on one occasion at Cipriani, and an option to travel by BA from London Gatwick airport. We have reserved a private evening visit to St Mark’s Basilica.
In response to a reception in London in 2016, the group has arranged for a private early evening visit to the Fondazione Querini Stampalia during our stay in Venice. A small additional charge is required for this visit.

Guide
Dr Carlo Corsato is an art historian and lecturer specialising in early-modern European art and architecture in Italy and Flanders with a particular expertise in Venetian painting. Carlo gained a PhD in Art History, Criticism & Conservation 2010 at the Università degli Studi di Verona. He is a research curator at the National Gallery and teaches at Morley College, London. He has been a learning coordinator at the Estorick Collection of Modern Italian Art, Visiting Lecturer at the University of Buckingham and Visiting Scholar at St John College, Cambridge. Among his publications are Lives of Titian and Lives of Tintoretto (Pallas Athene/Getty Publications, 2019) and he has contributed to international scholarly journals and exhibition catalogues, and co-edited the first completed monograph on the church of Frari, Venice.
