Members’ Letter April 2025
Dear Members
I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Communications Coordinator for the London Art History Society. It’s a real pleasure to be joining the team, and I’m very much looking forward to keeping you informed and inspired with all of our upcoming events. A big thank you to Gillian Robinson for stepping up as temporary Communications Coordinator in March and April, her help is greatly appreciated. We’re pleased to share details of our exciting Summer and Autumn programme, which includes a wide variety of lectures, visits, and courses. Do have a look at our latest programme for more information. New events include:
- American Art of the 1960s – a two day course led by lecturer Ben Street
- The Exterior and Immediate Environs of St Paul’s Cathedral – St Bride’s Church and Museum – a study visit led by Yvonne Jackman
- Heiress: Sargent’s American Portraits – a curator’s tour at Kenwood House led by Ella Letort
- Visit to Worcester Cathedral – a study visit led by Dr Hugh Doherty
- Rethinking the History of Architecture in England 1530 – 1830 – a two day online course led by Steven Brindle
All above events are now open for booking. There is still availability to book onto Geoffrey Nuttall’s lecture The Chapel of Carlo Spiafame, ‘native of Lucca’, in Avignon Cathedral. This can be attended in person or online and is free to book as a member. There is also availability for the study day led by Sue Rollin about Imperial Garden Cities: Babylon, Palmyra, Samarkand, Agra.
We kindly encourage members to book events as soon as possible so that we can be sure that we have sufficient participants to make events financially viable to run. This quarter’s programme offers a wide range of topics and speakers, and we hope that there will be something in it for everyone to enjoy.
Best Wishes,
Megan Williams
Communications Coordinator
